Background and vision
In recent years we’ve begun to understand humankind’s impact on the environment and the need to strike a balance between economic, social and environmental needs.
Human society manufactures, consumes and produces some 335 million tons of plastic each year, with only 9% of all plastics suitable for recycling. The remaining plastic is dispersed throughout the environment and thus pollutes our air, land, seas and oceans.
The world remains torn between the desire to downscale the use of plastic materials on the one hand, and the essential utilization of such materials in multiple domains including agriculture, industry, biology and more on the other.
It is difficult to imagine our modern world without the plastic products that accompany us each day in virtually all our pursuits.
We believe that it is indeed possible to strike a balance between economic, social and environmental needs, however it is difficult to do this alone. Thus we’ve joined forces with the Kafrit Group and HaMashtela Fund (supporting kibbutz investments in startups) to establish the Beyond Plastic technological incubator.
The incubator engages in the area of polymers, plastic and recycling and provides relevant enterprises with a comprehensive system of support in order to see them succeed.
The incubator’s unique model is based on: (1) a profound understanding of the difficulties and needs of enterprises in this domain; and (2) on the extensive knowledge and experience of our partners involved in entrepreneurship, innovation and the plastics industry.
We understand that a physical infrastructure of laboratories & equipment, expert accompaniment and advice, access to specialized knowledge, monetary support, and investor relations are the essential building blocks for enterprises on their path to success. Therefore each of our partners plays a decisive role in creating an incubator that provides a complete system of support for enterprises that accompanies them at each stage of product development—from the initial concept through to the product’s release to the market.
We believe that together we will be able to bring about a genuine change in the polymer, plastic & recycling industry and generate tremendous impact worldwide that will affect not only ourselves, but generations to come.
